5 Circles Ranch

Healing for Those Who Serve

Whole-person restoration for frontline workers through immersive retreats, lasting community, and the power of the Five Circles.

Five Circles Ranch

At Five Circles Ranch, we believe those who run toward crisis deserve a place to recover from it. Created by a firefighter/paramedic with over 20 years of service, our program is built specifically for firefighters, nurses, doctors, and law enforcement officers—the people who carry the weight of trauma, day after day, often in silence.

Five Circles is a year-long healing experience grounded in five essential areas of well-being:

Internal (mental and emotional health)

Physical (hormones, sleep, strength, detox)

External (your environment and surroundings)

Relational (friendship, marriage, parenting)

Spiritual (faith and purpose)

Participants walk this journey together—through three immersive four-day retreats, monthly health coaching, and ongoing community support. Each element is designed to bring lasting restoration, not just temporary relief.

Why It Matters

First responders and medical professionals face staggering rates of burnout, broken relationships, and even suicide. Most wellness programs treat the symptoms. We go to the root.

Five Circles Ranch is more than a program—it’s a place to breathe, to be seen, to rebuild, and to reconnect with who you are beyond the uniform.

  • Jake Shumate

    Jake Shumate

Jake Shumate has served as a Firefighter/Paramedic for more than 20 years. In that time, he has responded to countless emergencies, witnessed tragedy up close, and carried the weight of experiences that few outside the fire service can truly understand. Like many of his brothers and sisters on the front lines, Jake struggled with the invisible toll of the job—stress, exhaustion, and the search for true healing.

After more than a decade of exploring different approaches to wellness, Jake began to see a pattern: real restoration doesn’t happen by focusing on just one area of life. Healing requires a whole-person approach. From his own journey came the Five Circles model—addressing the internal, external, physical, relational, and spiritual parts of life. Each circle represents an essential piece of well-being, and together they form a complete framework for resilience, balance, and renewal.

Jake is also a certified equine coach, bringing the unique power of horses into the healing process, and is close to completing his Bachelor’s degree in Holistic Health, equipping him with both lived experience and academic training. Having personally tested each modality offered at the Ranch, Jake knows the struggles firsthand and is committed to helping others find hope without the years of trial and error he endured.

Jake founded Five Circles Ranch to give frontline workers a place he wished he’d had earlier in his career—a safe community where firefighters, nurses, doctors, and law enforcement officers can step away from the chaos, reconnect with themselves, and find practical tools for long-term healing.

At his core, Jake believes that those who serve deserve a chance not just to survive—but to thrive. Through Five Circles Ranch, his mission is to create a path of restoration for the people who spend their lives protecting and caring for others.

  • Sarah Sanville

    Sarah Sanville

Sarah Sanville is a holistic-minded health coach and respiratory therapist who is passionate about walking alongside individuals in their health journeys. With more than two decades of experience in healthcare, she combines professional expertise with personal experience to empower others to live healthier, fuller lives.

A native Vermonter who has lived across the U.S. and even in Ireland, Sarah grew up in a large family that embraced natural lifestyle wellness long before it was mainstream. Her career in healthcare began at 18 as a Licensed Nurse’s Aide, and just a few years later she became a Registered Respiratory Therapist. Over the years, Sarah worked in acute care, skilled rehab, homecare, and ground transport—all while raising four wonderful children, who she calls her greatest achievement.

Her passion for holistic health deepened after experiencing her own health challenges, which led her to seek care from naturopaths, chiropractors, and holistic-minded practitioners who helped her recover. Those experiences, combined with the toll of working in COVID-19 units during the pandemic, inspired her to shift her focus toward preventative and lifestyle medicine. Today, Sarah is pursuing another degree in Holistic Health along with advanced health coaching certifications.

Sarah is known for using a wide variety of modalities for both testing and treatment, tailoring care to each individual’s needs. She is particularly recognized as an expert in women’s health and hormones, supporting women in finding balance, resilience, and long-term wellness.

Sarah believes that God has used the challenges in her life to guide her to this place. At Five Circles Ranch, she brings her wisdom, empathy, and lived experience to help frontline workers find clarity, strength, and hope on their own holistic healing journeys.
